An animal adult, whether human or non-human, is one that has grown to its full potential. The human world of adult refers to the social and legal aspects. Legally mature means that a person is at the point of adulthood and is defined as an independent, self-sufficient person, and responsible. Also known as "majors", they can also be thought as having reached the age of majority. The typical age of attaining legally adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on the legal rights of the country, and psychological development.

When a human reaches full intellectual and physical maturity, this is known as adulthood. Commonly, adulthood begins around the age of 21, or 20. Old age is about 60 years after middle age. Adulthood is divided into three distinct stages: early adulthood (18-mid-30s) and mid-30s to mid-60s and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to end of life. Physical maturation has been completed at the point we are in our early adulthood years (20-40s), although the weight and height may be a little higher. When we reach early adulthood, the physical capabilities of our bodies reach their maximum. These include muscle strength and reaction time.
