An animal adult, whether human or non-human, is a creature that has developed to its full potential. The term "adult" is often employed in relation to human beings in order to define moral and social concepts. In contrast to "minor" (or "non-adult" legally-aged adult is an individual who is a an age at which they are majority. They are considered competent, responsible and independent. The word "major" can be used to describe the person. There is a general belief that the threshold at which an individual becomes a legal adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and country as well as the development of the individual's psychological.

If a person attains full physical and intellectual maturity this is known as adulthood. Adulthood is typically believed to start around age 20 or 21 years. Mid-life, beginning around 40 years old then follows by the age of 60 years. Adulthood can be divided into three distinct stages that are: young adulthood (18-mid-30s) and mid-30s to mid-60s and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to death. It is the time of physical maturity that is at the time we attain the age of 20 to 40 years old. We are a little taller and heavier are likely to increase. In the early years of adulthood, we are physically and mentally at the peak. Strength of muscles, reaction time, sensoriac ability and cardiac function all reach their maximum.
