The biological meaning of adult means an animal with the capacity to reproduce. Within the human realm, adult refers to the social and legal aspects. Contrary to those who are not considered an adult or "minor" an legal adult has attained majority, that makes them independent competent, responsible, and capable. The term "major" may be used to define the person. The average age at which you can attain the legal age of adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on legal rights, country as well as the stage of psychological development.
